Relationships are complicated. It has ups and downs. It can be a blessing for us. But not for them who's been through a divorce, bad parent, backstabbing friends, etc. Not all relationships are supportive. Toxic relationships can exist in any kind of relationship. 

So what exactly is a toxic relationship? 
Any relationship between people who don’t support each other, where there is a constant conflict or 
a relationship that makes you feel disrespected, misunderstood, attacked by someone is called a toxic relationship.           

There is a strong relationship between our mind and body. If we have an unhealthy mind, eventually our body will get sick. Toxic relationships can drain us mentally and physically. 

So what are the effects of toxic relationships on our physical health?


  1. It is shown from a study that a person who is in a toxic relationship has a 34% increase in heart problems such as dying from heart attack and strokes.
  2. Their immune system gets weaker means they lose the strength to fight back against infections, harmful substances, and germs.
  3. It can make our blood pressure high.
  4. It can make our blood sugar level high.
  5. It can make us obese. 
  6. Make us sick often like getting headaches often.
  7. It can slower our healing rate of the body.
And now what are the effects of toxic relationships on our mental health?

  1. It makes us depressed. And depression disrupts our sleep.
  2. It can make us feel insecure.
  3. It can even make us having trouble with memories and speech.
  4. It will create negativity in us.
  5. Emotionally exhaust us.
  6. It will destroy our self-esteem.
  7. It can even interrupt our self-growth.
  8. It makes our life more stressful and a stressed mind makes us eat more. Eventually making us obese.
  9. Makes us stop trusting others.
  10. Makes us more pessimistic.
